India-Japan: Prime Minister of Japan Kishida Fumio is coming to India on a 2-day visit. Meanwhile, there will be bilateral talks between Japan’s PM Kishida Fumio and India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Hyderabad House in Delhi on March 20. It is part of the annual summit between India and Japan. Kishida Fumio will attend a lecture in Delhi on 20 March itself. In this lecture, he will outline the Indo-Pacific plan, which is considered important for the friendship between India and Japan. Because China’s activities in the Indian Pacific region are continuously increasing and in such a situation, planning related to the free and open Indo-Pacific region will be important to maintain regional peace.

Eye on the new Indo-Pacific plan

The main objective of the new Indo-Pacific plan is to balance China’s growing influence and expansionist stance in the entire region. Along with this, there will be an emphasis on providing more options to the developing countries to increase development and defense cooperation in this region.

Both are handling important international responsibility

The visit of Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio to India is taking place at a time when both the countries are shouldering a huge international responsibility. India is chairing the G20 and Japan is chairing the G7, the most developed countries in the world. At present, India is also carrying out the responsibility of the chairman of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). From a global point of view, the chairmanship of these groups is very important for both the countries.

Important from the point of view of Russia-Ukraine war

Diplomatically, the visit of the Prime Minister of Japan to India is also special because at this time the world is grappling with the effects of the Russia-Ukraine war for the last one year. At the same time, India is refraining from any such action against Russia. Japan’s Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi did not come to India to attend the G20 Foreign Ministers’ meeting held on March 2.

In such a situation, it was also being said that Japan is not that happy with India’s attitude towards Russia. But a few days later, the announcement of the visit of the Prime Minister of Japan to India put an end to those speculations. Both India and Japan are known as peace-loving countries.
