India-Bangladesh Friendship Pipeline: The friendship between India and Bangladesh is about to deepen. The first cross border oil pipeline between the two countries is going to be inaugurated on Saturday (March 18). PM Narendra Modi and Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will jointly inaugurate the project. PM Modi and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate this oil pipeline through video-conference. The Ministry of External Affairs gave this information on Friday (March 17).

This will be the first cross-border pipeline between India and Bangladesh. According to the information, this oil pipeline has been laid at an estimated cost of Rs 377 crore. In this project, less expenditure has been given on Bangladesh and India has spent most of the amount. This includes the expenditure of Rs 285 crore in the total cost, which has come on the laying of this oil pipeline towards Bangladesh. This amount has also been spent by India under grant-in-aid.

High-speed diesel will be sent

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the Prime Ministers of both the countries will inaugurate this pipeline through video conference on March 18 at 5 pm. This pipeline project will enable high speed diesel transportation between the two countries. The pipeline has a capacity to transport 1 million metric tonnes per annum (MMTPA) of high-speed diesel (HSD). Initially, high speed diesel will be supplied to seven districts of northern Bangladesh.

The Ministry of External Affairs said, “The operationalization of the India-Bangladesh Friendship Pipeline will establish a sustainable, reliable, cost-effective and environment-friendly means of shipping high-speed diesel from India to Bangladesh. This will further enhance cooperation in energy security between the two countries.” Will get promoted.” After this pipeline, there will be freedom from sending oil through trucks to Bangladesh. This project was announced in the year 2010. This pipeline has been laid from Siliguri in West Bengal to Parbatipur in northern Bangladesh.
