PM Modi inaugurates Global Millets Conference: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Global Millets Conference in New Delhi today (March 18). Addressing here, PM Modi said that events like the Global Millets (Shri Anna) conference are not only necessary for Global Goods, but are also a symbol of India’s increasing responsibility in Global Goods.
PM Modi said that when we take a resolution forward, the responsibility of taking it to completion is equally important. Today, when the world is celebrating ‘international millet year’, India is leading this campaign. Agriculture ministers and researchers of millets from more than 100 countries have participated in the two-day Global Millets (Shri Anna) conference.
Produces even in the absence of water
Being climate resilient is the strength of millets. Millets can be easily produced even in very adverse climatic conditions. Its yield also requires less water, due to which it is considered a favorite crop even for water-scarce places.

The PM further said that ‘Shri Anna’ is not limited to farming or eating only, those who are familiar with the traditions of India also know that ‘Shri’ does not connect with anyone in our country just like that. Where there is ‘Shri’, there is prosperity and there is totality. ‘Shri Anna’ is also becoming a medium of overall development in India, in which the village is also connected and the poor are also connected. Mr. Anna means the gateway to the prosperity of the small farmers of the country, the leader of the nutrition of crores of people of the country, the tribal society of the country is felicitated. More crop yield in less water, chemical free farming is a big base, helpful in dealing with the challenges of climate change.
