New Delhi: The misdeeds of Kiran Patel, who enjoys tight security cordon and other guest services including bullet proof car as an officer of the PMO, are coming to the fore. This thug was arrested on March 3 itself. The story of the alleged thug from Gujarat came to the fore earlier this month when he visited Kashmir for the third time. Each time during this time he introduced himself as Additional Director (Strategy and Campaigns) in the Prime Minister’s Office in New Delhi. Police said three cases were registered against him in 2017 at Ahmedabad and Vadodara police stations under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including cheating, forgery and breach of trust.
MTech and MBA degree
Kiran Patel hails from Gujarat and according to his bio on Twitter, he has a PhD from Commonwealth University, Virginia, USA. He did his MBA from IIM Trichy. He also has a degree in M Tech (Computer Science) and BE Computer (LD Engg). He describes himself as a ‘thinker, strategist, analyst and campaign manager’. The most surprising thing is that his Twitter account is verified.
Video going viral while surveying snowy areas of Gulmarg
A purported video of Patel is doing the rounds on social media, in which he can be seen surveying the snowy areas of Gulmarg surrounded by armed security personnel and a convoy of vehicles passing through the city with him. He also visited the last outpost at Uri in north Kashmir and took photographs at a bridge considered the Line of Control between India and Pakistan.
Ten fake visiting cards and two mobiles seized
In a statement, the police said that the Crime Investigation Department (CID) branch of the Jammu and Kashmir Police was informed about an officer who had checked-in at Hotel Lalit Grand in Srinagar on March 2. Giving details, the statement said Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rakesh Balwal sent a team to the hotel and identified the bogus officer as Kiran Bhai Patel, son of Judesh Bhai Patel, a resident of Ahmedabad. Police said the fake bureaucrat was questioned but his answers were found suspicious and he was taken to the nearby Nishat police station, where he confessed. Ten fake visiting cards and two mobiles were seized from him.
Had several meetings with the bureaucrats of Jammu and Kashmir
According to the police, Patel held several meetings with bureaucrats in Jammu and Kashmir and sold them the dream of increasing apple production and involving the youth in national construction and organized seminars to promote the horticulture industry. Cases of cheating and forgery have been registered against him under various sections of IPC at Nishat police station. During his earlier visit, he had visited the tourist resort of Gulmarg and claimed that the government had entrusted him with the task of improving hotel facilities in the area.
